A 5th generation American of German, Scottish, and English ancestry. My ancestors were on the losing side of the Revolution of 1848 in Germany and had to flee to the United States. We arrived in 1849 via Texas. I am thus one of the Dixie Deutsch and a direct descendant of Martin Luther via his wife Katharina von Bora. I know my ancestry back to 16th century Prussia (or what is now called Prussia) having had to have my DNA analyzed because of a rare heredity blood disorder than only effects every 4th generation. I also had a relative that rode with Nathan Bedford Forrest in his 3rd Tennessee Cavalry during the war for Southern Independence.
