Many words can be used to describe me, but the word that best describes me for purposes of this blog is "Teacher." From that age of 6, in Miss Kunz first grade class, I have wanted to be a teacher. As each year passed and my teachers cultivated a love of learning and made me feel connected to what we were learning, my desire to teach grew. Now, fifteen years after I began my teaching career, I am working on my Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, hoping to eventually help other teachers as they cultivate that love of learning in their students. Just how do you do that, you might ask? You make each student feel valued, connected, and motivated to be the best that he or she can be. That is what this blog is about: making your classroom multicultural so that every student feels valued, connected, and motivated to learn. By the way, the picture you see is of my first grade teacher, Miss Kunz, and me. It was taken in 2010, thirty years after I entered her classroom for the first time. Remember, the impression you leave with your students may last forever!
