Rich Turasky

Rich Turasky is an investment entrepreneur and commercial real estate investment, finance, and development professional with more than three decades of experience in private and institutional equity. As Founder and CEO of the Capital Companies, he has directed more than 100 commercial real estate investments across several states, overseeing assets that serve more than 1,000 tenants while maintaining a focus on operational strength and disciplined capital management. Throughout his career, Rich has founded, led, and served on the executive boards of over 20 operating companies across industries that include plastic manufacturing, pharmaceutical development, aviation, beverage distribution, and commercial real estate brokerage and finance. His dual role as investor and operating partner has enabled him to guide companies through expansion, restructuring, and strategic growth initiatives. In recent years, he has participated in significant private and public transactions, including mergers and initial public offerings totaling approximately $2 billion. His involvement has ranged from founding shareholder to executive board member, contributing to capital formation, acquisition strategy, and corporate governance. He has also worked with alternative investment structures that support long-term value creation. Born in 1970, Rich earned a Bachelor of Arts from Bradley University in 1992. He later completed executive education programs at Harvard University, refining his leadership perspective and strategic planning capabilities. Committed to sharing his experience, he has served as a featured speaker at the University of Illinois, addressing topics such as entrepreneurship, investment finance, and real estate development. Rich began his professional path by advising and representing major Chicago-area operating companies in commercial real estate matters while identifying high-potential investment opportunities. His work demanded close attention to market cycles, asset valuation, and portfolio performance. Over time, he expanded into complex deal structuring, mergers and acquisitions, and multi-state asset management. His real estate portfolio has included office, industrial, retail, and multifamily properties. Among his development accomplishments is the Huntley SPEC Industrial project, which highlights his ability to translate vision into tangible results. He has earned recognition for his leadership, including the 2006 Entrepreneurial Award from the Business Ledger. Outside of business, Rich Turasky has supported community organizations such as the Elgin United Way and the Dundee Township Boys and Girls Club. An instrument-rated pilot, he values focus and preparation in both aviation and investment strategy. He is married with two adult children and continues to lead Capital Companies with an emphasis on sustainable growth and responsible stewardship.
